If you aren't that good at combat, still having some trouble with the small amount of hearts, get your ass into Zora's Domain, should be on the east. Followed by maximizing your Stamina Wheel. Then you can go back to the famed 13 hearts number. Then, once you have 6 hearts, focus on getting at least, like, another wheel + 2/5. I agree three hearts isn't enough, but early game, you should get one Stamina Vessel after each Heart Countainer. Stamina is needed to move your ass up mountains. You can find a bunch of Hearty Radish, cook them individually so you have a bunch of recipes that gives you Max Hearts immediately (instead of a single one that also gives you, like, 6 extra hearts that you will probably waste on the first Lynel you confront), then you can essentially brute force your way into enemies that are giving you trouble.
